FROM IDEA TO IMPACT:

NAVIGATING NAVY SBIR FUNDING

NW Tech Bridge closed out 2025 by teaming up with NAVSEA, Washington APEX Accelerator and Matchstick Lab to host a hands-on SBIR workshop in Poulsbo, WA. The half-day event was designed for Pacific Northwest entrepreneurs and small business innovators seeking to work with the Navy, connecting them directly with SBIR experts, outreach leads, and experienced awardees.

Attendees gained practical guidance on navigating the Navy’s SBIR/STTR process, from eligibility and proposal development to commercialization pathways, and heard directly from Navy Topic Managers about current priorities. One-on-one consultations with NAVSEA SBIR/STTR outreach leads and APEX Accelerator advisors provided tailored feedback and next steps for founders exploring non-dilutive R&D funding.

The workshop concluded with a fireside chat featuring NW Tech Bridge’s Dave Kowalick and successful SBIR awardees, who shared lessons learned and strategies for building strong relationships with Navy stakeholders. Participants left with actionable insights, new connections, and greater confidence to pursue non-dilutive DoD R&D funding. Follow the link below the get the full event recap.

WE’RE LISTENING

WHAT SUPPORT WOULD HELP YOU MOST THIS YEAR?

We’re listening as we plan for 2026 — and your perspective matters.

The Northwest Tech Bridge exists to help innovators navigate pathways to the Navy and DoW, connect with the right partners, and access support that actually moves the work forward. To do that well, we want to better understand what’s most useful to you right now — and what would make the biggest difference in the year ahead.

This short, anonymous check-in survey covers things like:

  • the kinds of support that would help you most

  • event formats, topics, and locations that work best

  • how NWTB and our partner network can better show up for your work

The survey takes about 5 minutes to complete. Responses are confidential and contact information is optional.

Your input will directly inform NWTB programming, events, and support offerings in 2026.

THANK YOU for taking the time to share your perspective
